The Charities Directorate of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) registers qualifying organizations as charities, gives technical advice on operating a charity, handles audit and compliance activities, and provides donors with relevant information about donating to charities.

The Muttart Foundation

Residential Tenancies Act Handbook for Landlords and Tenants

This handbook explains the rights and responsibilities of all tenants, landlords, and agents involved in renting residential premises in Alberta under the Residential Tenancies Act and related regulations. It explains the minimum legislated requirements set out in the Act and provides landlords and tenants with options to deal with matters not established as minimum requirements.

The following topics are covered in the handbook: residential tenancy agreements; inspection reports; security deposits; other fees and charges; landlord's distraint; rent increases; landlord's right of entry; security; termination of tenancy; determination of normal wear and tear during residency; and abandoned goods.

Crime Free Multi-housing Program

The goal of the Crime Free Multi-Housing program is to introduce crime prevention techniques to rental property as to reduce the likelihood of criminal activity occurring on the premises. The Crime Free Multi-Housing program adheres to the principles detailed in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. The City of Edmonton has a number of properties that have completed the three phases and are certified Crime Free Multi-Housing properties. As a public service, the EPS has complied a list of certified properties based on the five policing divisions throughout the city.
