This website is meant to make a traditionally complex area of knowledge easier to understand and more accessible. Many Albertan women will benefit from this resource, including those who are new to the English language, have no background in the law, those who cannot afford legal advice and those in remote communities without internet access. Although it is not meant to replace expert advice the resource is a starting place and a guide for women who don’t know where to look.

The Women's Centre of Calgary is an ongoing source of information, support and advocacy. The Centre offers women quick access to emergency food, personal care supplies and bus tickets. It provides referrals to other agencies for food, clothing, furniture, housing, health, employment, education and recreation. The Centre operates a Legal Advice Clinic where volunteer lawyers provide free, half-hour legal advice sessions to women. The clinic is aimed at providing women with the preliminary information and support they may need to access the legal system. Family and other types of law are addressed, but not criminal law.

LawNow is a bi-monthly digital public legal education magazine which has been  published by the Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta for almost 40 years.  Its articles  and columns are written in plain language and takes a practical look at how the law relates to the every day lives of Canadians. In each issue, LawNow’s not-for-profit and charity law column examines a specific topic in this area of law and explains it clearly and concisely.

Pro Bono Law Alberta (PBLA) is a nonprofit organization that promotes access to justice in Alberta by creating and promoting opportunities for lawyers to provide pro bono (free) legal services to persons of limited means. PBLA does not provide direct support to members of the public; their website lists clinics and projects that may be helpful to individuals. Lawyers on PBLA's volunteer roster are available to provide assistance on legal issues that impact non profits and charities such as: policy/governance; employment law and contracts; volunteer waivers;  incorporation; or charitable registration.

This website provides free legal information in 65 languages for those whose first language is not English or French. For those users that prefer one-on-one conversations, a telephone information line provides pre-recorded answers available 24-hours a day for those who are illiterate, visually impaired, or simply prefer to 'listen' to the legal answers. Legaline also offers answers to over 1000 frequently asked questions on a wide variety of legal topics. You can filter by province or search Canada federal information.

This Portal is designed to provide child welfare professionals, researchers, and the general public with a single point of access to Canadian child welfare research. The Portal includes a searchable data base of Canadian research publications, a data base of Canadian researchers, and information and statistics about provincial, territorial, aboriginal and national child welfare policies, legislation and programs.

Founded in 1980, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives is an independent, non-partisan research institute concerned with issues of social, economic and environmental justice.

The Coalition for Equal Access to Education promotes knowledge and dialogue about issues affecting K-12 ESL learners. The Coalition researches and shares information with government, education and community stakeholders via publications, presentations, workshops, public fora and media.

The Alberta Gambling Research Institute is a consortium of the University of Alberta, University of Calgary, and the University of Lethbridge. Its primary purpose is to support and promote research into gambling in the province. The Institute aims to achieve international recognition in gambling-related research.

The Alberta Council on Aging (ACA) is a registered charity with more than 4000 individual members and 400 seniors' groups and agencies as organizational members. The ACA is Alberta's only provincial non-government umbrella organization representing seniors. Their mission is to maintain or improve the quality of life for seniors and encourage their full participation in all aspects of society.
