On this site you will find information about Alberta’s Health Advocate and Mental Health Patient Advocate. The Advocates provide education about the Alberta Health Charter and patients' rights set out in the Mental Health Act, and connect people with health and mental health services, programs and resources.  The Advocates listen to any concerns or complaints about health care experiences which may result in an investigation or a referral to the appropriate complaint resolution process.

The Government of Alberta is committed to celebrating and supporting all communities, including the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Questioning (LGBTQ) community. There are a number of online programs and support for the LGBTQ community that address issues such as discrimination, bullying, family violence and mental health issues. The Alberta Civil Liberties Research Centre (ACLRC) has worked with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities for over 20 years. Free help on Canadian refugee law and procedures. This resource aims to provide brief, high-level guidance for lawyers and settlement agencies, or asylum seekers themselves entering from the U.S., in need of preliminary guidance on Canadian refugee law and procedure. It also provides more general information about the Canadian immigration and refugee determination procedures regardless of the country of origin, and about other options for legally entering the country. The Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre (SKCAC) is a non-profit organization that, together with their partners, takes a leadership role to advance the way our country understands and addresses child abuse. They work with their partner organizations to provide wrap-around services to assess, investigate, intervene, and support survivors of child abuse while bringing offenders to justice.
